Water Management

  by Mark Ross, Service Manager

One of the most common problems our customers run into is keeping the spa water clear. This is usually caused by not having enough Oxidizers and/or Sanitizers in the water. Sanitizers include Bromine, Chlorine & Baqua. The key is to oxidize organics (bacteria, bather waste etc. ) out of the water. If the level of organics exceeds the level of sanitizer, the water can become cloudy or milky. The fix is to have the proper level of Sanitizer to kill the organic material, then Oxidize the organics from the water. Be sure to leave the hot tub cover off for 20-30 minutes after adding Oxidizer to give the Oxidizer time to work.

Weekly Suggestions:  Check your Sanitizer & Oxidizer by using your Test Strips to ensure proper levels. In addition, filtration times can also be increased to allow the Ozonator to work longer which increases the amount of filtration into the filter area, and your ozone stays on longer.  Remember an Ozonator alone is not sufficient to maintain your water balance without the use of weekly chemical maintenance. So keep the Sanitizer & Oxidizer/organic ratio in balance and you'll have happy water and happy tubbing!
